Chips for Charity Texas Hold Em Poker Series, hosted by Smith Petrie Carr & Scott Insurance Brokers
It is my distinct pleasure to announce that on February 22nd “Chips For Charity” event raised $10,400! That’s right, over ten thousand dollars.
Greg Janes set the ambitious goal of raising $20,000 in two events, to match the amount raised last season in four events and you guys did it! Congratulations and Thank You. Candlelighters is so proud to have been involved with these events that were not only successful but lots of fun too. All the new friends and supporters, it has just been fantastic all the way around. We owe a HUGE thank you to Greg and Gary who really were the driving force behind not one or two of these poker nights but all six of them. No small commitment and look what’s been accomplished. Supporting families of children with cancer through likely the most difficult time of their lives is what Candlelighters does, but we could not do it without you. The families we provide programs and services too have told us that we help keep families together, that we provide them the emotional and financial support they need for their entire journey with childhood cancer. The financial hardships are enormous, the emotional toll is incredible but you guys, you “Chips for Charity” gang, you make it better for them. So remember that the next time you go all in or find yourself with pocket aces … you have made a difference in the lives of kids with cancer. Definitely makes you the “big stack” no matter where you go.
